LAND REFORMS: KWARA STATE GOVERNMENT COMMENDED.
The Kwara State Government has again been commended for its foresight in transforming land administration and management in the State.
The Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Harmony Holdings Company Limited, Mallam Abdullahi Abdulmajeed gave this commendation when he paid a courtesy visit to the Kwara State Geographic Information Service, yesterday.
Mallam Abdulmajeed said his visit to the Agency is borne out of three major things and he is sure of getting desired results, adding that he is overwhelmed by warm reception accorded him and his team.
He disclosed that the HHCL as an investment management company, with many subsidiaries, such as Kwara Hotel, Harmony Transport Services, Harmony Properties Development Corporation Harmony Advanced Diagnostic Limited, Harmony Ventures and Supply, Harmony Security in Lagos and many companies where there are minority interests like, ShopRite, Kwara Ethnix Design, Shonga Farm Holdings.
The Group Managing Director noted that as the investment management company of the State, we had ensured a good working relationship with all the subsidiaries which had gone bad overtime.
He reiterated that for the State to stimulate its economy, the investment management company must have a robust relationship with all the critical Ministries, Departments and Agencies, of which KW-GIS is one of the critical components for HHCL to succeed in its determination to stimulate the State economy.
According to Mallam Abdulmajeed, " when it comes to business climate and social economy of a State, the critical determinant factor is land allocation, which is in the purview of the KW-GIS, being a critical stakeholder in the Ease of Doing Business in the State". He continued saying I'm here for the ease of accessibility of land, ease of getting title and time bound of the process.
Likewise, he disclosed that HHCL has now become an agent responsible for disseminating vital information to Estates Developers in the State, on what to do before putting a single block on ground, so as to avoid further contravention from the State Property Development Corporation.
In his response, the Executive Chairman, Kwara State Geographic Information Service, Malam Abdulmutalib A. Shittu, appreciated GMD/CEO of the Company, and his team for coming at the right time, noting that the Kwara State Geographic Information Service (KW-GIS) is made up of Defunct Bureau of Lands, Town Planning Authority, Office of Surveyor General and Urban and Regional Planning, as the aforementioned agencies are now Directorates under KW-GIS.
Mallam Shittu assured of his maximum cooperation needed for the sister Agencies to achieve common objectives, saying that the processes of acquiring land, rates and other services are already online, through KWIRS website for easy accessibility.
The Executive Chairman therefore, disclosed that all pending Certificates of Occupancy would start to be printed by January, 2023 with the new features, as the time frame for the processing of C of O would now be very minimal as a result of new land administration and management in the State.
He later conducted the GMD/CEO and his team round the rebranded Offices at the Agency.
