Livestock Project: KWSG Compensates Customary Land Owners*


The Kwara State Government has compensated customary land owners for the hectares of land acquired for livestock project phase one in Malete/Ipaye District in Moro Local Government Area of the State.

Speaking at an event to compensate the land owners today,  the Executive Chairman of the State Geographic Information Service, ESV Abdulkareem Babatunde Sulyman disclosed that 3000 hectares of land had been acquired from Jehunkunu and Belko families respectively at Malete/Ipaye District, Moro Local Government Area where the livestock project would be sited.

According to him, the purpose of the project was to enhance and boost agricultural and economic activities in the State, adding that the lands acquired were willingly released by the owners through compensation for the development of the State. 

The Chairman therefore, noted that the acquisition of the lands for livestock project was a positive step indicating the determination of the present administration in the State, under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to its developmental responsibilities in the State. He implored the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money and to always support the government through active surveillance on the acquired lands in their communities.

Also speaking, the Director, Lands Services, ESV Abdulwahab AbdulRahman said the acquired lands would be used for livestock project, not anything else, urging the land owners to cooperate with the State Government to further entrench the culture of good governance in the State.

Responding on behalf of the two families, Mr Alao Azeez appreciated the State Government and the management of the Kwara State Geographic Information Service for the good gesture and prayed for more insight for the State Government to take the State to new heights. 

The event was well attended by the management staff of the KWGIS.
