KWEPA seeks adequate collaboration with KWGIS


Kwara State Environmental Protection Agency has solicited adequate collaboration with the Kwara State Geographic Information Servive for effective work flow.

The Agency's General Manager, Alhaji Sa'ad Ayuba Dan-Musa sought the collaboration today in Ilorin while paying a courtesy visit to the Kwara State Geographic Information Service.

He urged KW-GIS to always carry KWEPA along in giving building permits, so that they acquired the Environmental Impact Assessment Certificate before such building are finally erected.

 
 "I saw reasons to collaborate with some Ministries, Departments and Agencies and KWGIS is the first Agency to collaborate with, for the purpose of smooth workflow and proper observance of laws and regulations by the public as regards environmental protection."He said.


In his own response, the Acting Chairman, KWGIS, Mallam Abdulmutalib A. Shittu said that the synergy between KWEPA and KW-GIS is timely and needed to be taken seriously as it would aid both Agencies in discharging their statutory functions effectively and optimally.


Mallam Shittu urged the Agency to intensity its efforts in sanitizing the environment especially as it pertains to restaurants, hotels, schools, setbacks, shops, abattoirs among others.


He later charged KWEPA to open up itself to new revenue generation opportunities in the State so as to boost Internally Revenue Generation for the State Government.

Also speaking, the General Manager, Physical planning and Development Control (PPDC)  TPL Taiye Mohammed assured KWEPA of unflinching support of his Agency in protecting environment, which he said it would bring about a smooth and enabling workflow for both KWEPA and PPDC. 

In attendance were the KWGIS Administrative Secretary Mallam Ahmad Idris Danjuma, Legal Adviser, Bar Olubiyi Omolara, Director, Urban and Regional Planning, TPL Alo Fatai,Deputy Director Lands Services, ESV Abdulwahab among others.
