The Kwara State Government has sealed up a Quarry Site, operating without necessary documents to validate their operation in the State.
The sealing up exercise was carried out by the Kwara State Geographic Information Service (KWGIS) along Eiyenkorin Express Road in Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The Executive Chairman, KW-GIS, Esv. Abdulkareem Babatunde Sulyman who led a team to the Sites, where the business of the day was at its peak, said that it was part of KWGIS responsibility to control the activities of Quarry in the State, so as to ensure that business is run within the purview of the State Government.
According to him "we discover that some companies were causing damages to our land, and there is Federal Government presence here especially the bridge"
He noted that the blast of rocks around the bridge would weaken it and it could be dangerous to human health and all the neighbourhood.
"Now we have come to seal the premises and you were to report at our office with all the necessary papers you were using for your operation ", he said.
He therefore, added that government would not fold its hand to allow illegal operation of quarries business in the State.
In his entourage, were the Ag. Administrative Secretary, Mrs Motunrayo Adaran, Director Physical Planning, TPL Taiye Mohamed, Deputy Director, TPL Sunday Idowu and other senior officers of the Agency.
